At Winchester Caravans we feel it is important to work alongside local charities and make a positive contribution to the local community. We are pleased to announce that this year our chosen charity is Naomi House and Jacksplace, a hospice that cares for life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their families, providing respite, emergency, end-of-life and bereavement care. Throughout the year we will be holding some wonderful events and participating in some organised events in the hope that along with your help we can raise some money to help make these special peoples lives just a little easier. So far we have filled a caravan with balloons, held a raffle for National Camping and Caravanning Week and walked 26 miles. What will be next?

Clarendon Way Walk

On Sunday 5th June, a team of 17 of us set off from Winchester Cathedral at 08:00 Sunday morning, walked 26 miles through 24 degree heat over rough terrain and arrived at Salisbury Cathedral some eight to ten hours later. We would like to thank everyone that sponsored us; knowing that our community was behind us and that we were raising money for a very worthwhile cause kept us going, especially through the last five miles! Here are some pictures we took on the day:

It isn't too late to sponsor us. We will continue to raise money Naomi House and Jacksplace throughout this year, with a goal of reaching £3,400; something we cannot do without your support. You can donate online (here) or in our shop.

Naomi House and Jacksplace

Naomi House and Jacksplace are hospices for children and young adults that provide support to children and young people with conditions that mean they are unlikely to live to become adults. The charity provides care to families and young adults living in communities across the seven counties of Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Surrey, West Sussex and Wiltshire. The charity has two specialist units, Naomi House for children, and Jacksplace for young adults. Each unit is purpose built and offers an appropriate environment for each age group. It costs around £7million a year to run the two units.

The charity receives less than 20% of its funding from the Department of Health. The rest is raised by people and businesses across region. The support given by Naomi House is unique to the area. It delivers a range of services to help to relieve families from the day to day pressures of looking after a child or young person with a life-limiting condition. Every donation, large or small makes a difference, to the children and families who receive support from us. Hundreds of children and families benefit from the work of Naomi House each year; your donation can help to ensure that we can continue to give them the support they need. You can find out more about Naomi House and Jacksplace here.

We look forward to holding more fundraising events later this year, so make sure you stay updated with the latest news. You can do this by 'liking' our Facebook page, following us on Twitter, reading our latest blogs or subscribing to our newsletter by sending an email to marketing@winchestercaravans.com.
