Get Kids Outdoors, Gingerbread Caravans and More!
National Camping and Caravanning Week, Children's Raffle, Get Kids Outdoors, Gingerbread, Gingerbread Caravan, Cakes, Clarendon Way Walk
Dear reader, next week is National Camping and Caravanning Week (NCCW), The Camping and Caravanning Club's annual celebration of camping, caravanning and the great outdoors. The theme this year is 'Get Kids Outdoors with Camping' and to celebrate, we are holding a raffle for a great selection of children's books and accessories that will undoubtedly put a smile on those little faces...
To celebrate NCCW next week we are holding a raffle aimed at engaging kids with the great outdoors and, of course, caravanning. Having grown up with caravan holidays in the New Forest (and the occasional trip to Wales), I can fully appreciate the benefits of being outside with loved ones from a young age: the fresh air and exercise; being surrounded by other like-minded children; the difficulty of removing mud and leaves, crushed into a beige carpet. Those were the days (although we still have a bit of trouble with dirt somehow finding its way inside).
Last year, in collaboration with the University of Plymouth, the Camping and Carvanning Club conducted research into the perceived benefits of taking children on camping and caravanning holidays. From a total of 585 respondents, the vast majority of parents thought that their children were affected in the following positive ways.
As you can see, a whole array of benefits have been praised by parents of young children across the country. With this in mind, we have put together a fantastic selection of children's accessories and books that you can win through entering our raffle starting Saturday 28th May. Tickets will be available to purchase for £1 and can be bought in our shop. The winner will be drawn on Monday 6th June.
Prizes include: a children's melamine set, two tiger chairs, a great selection of children's books (bug sticker book, animal colouring books, camping i-spy book and an interactive bird song book) and a child's safety vest.
We wish you all the best of luck! If you wish to find out more about the study conducted, you can find it here.
Gingerbread Caravan and Other Goodies
We are very excited to announce that we have had our own gingerbread caravan designed in our own colours. It is available to purchase in our shop for £1.75 along with a selection of other sweet treats. We now have flapjacks, millionaire shortcake and dark chocolate brownies available from £1.25. If you like cake as much as we do, this will be very good news indeed. Tried and tested, of course!
The Clarendon Way Walk
Yes, we have recently started selling cakes in our shop. This is somewhat unfortunate timing for many of us, however, as we now have less than two weeks to go until the Clarendon Way Walk on 5th June and cake will not help us go any faster at this point (although, on the day, it might!) We have now passed the £1000 mark for donations and we are delighted! A huge thank you to everyone who has sponsored us so far, your kindness is going towards a very worthwhile cause. Our goal is to raise £3400 so, although we have made more than a dent in this total, there is still a way to go. All money raised will be donated to Naomi House and Jacksplace, a local charity whose hospices provide expert care to more than 280 life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their extended families from Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Berkshire, West Sussex, Surrey and the Isle of Wight.
Donations can be made in our shop or via our online donation page here. Thank you.
Many thanks for taking the time to read our newsletter and we hope to see you soon.
