Having the right outdoor furniture makes all the difference for alfresco dining and lounging whilst on your caravanning holiday. Although it’s lovely to sit inside the caravan in comfort and enjoy your meals, it’s also nice to have the option to dine outside if the weather’s glorious.

Go into any outdoors or camping store looking for camping furniture and you may wonder where to start as there’s so much choice. What do you need? What’s comfortable? What’s good value for money? Which manufacturer is best? These are all questions that may run through your mind as you look around.

Which furniture items should you go for?

This is the first question to tackle. Are you looking for a couple of folding chairs so you can sit outside and eat on your laps? A full dining set? Some storage? If you’re new to caravanning or you usually stick to the indoors, you may be unsure what you’ll need. Run through the following points to see if you can work out what might suit you and your caravanning lifestyle best…

• How many of you are there? This will determine how many chairs you need and how big a table.
• If there are more than two of you, would you like to dine at a table with separate chairs or an all-in-one table and seat combination?
• If seating is your main priority, would you like dining chairs or lounging chairs? Or something that can function as both?
• Tables - they come in all shapes and sizes, but the big question is: what do you want to use it for? Dining? Storing things? Prepping things for the BBQ? Serving? Once you recognise your needs for the table, it will be easier to choose one and it may be that you need more than one. Having a dining table and a multifunctional smaller table is always useful.
• Are you holidaying with children? Will they have smaller chairs or sit up alongside the grown ups on larger ones?
• Finally, make sure you have the space to transport and store any furniture you purchase!
