Keeping your leisure vehicle in tip top condition is essential! At Winchester Caravans & Motorhomes, our NCC-approved workshop provides first-class servicing and warranty work so you can rest assured that your vehicle will be in the best hands with us.

Looking after your caravan or motorhome is important as not only will it remain in the best possible condition for your enjoyment, it’ll also help it hold its value much better too. A well looked after vehicle is definitely worth more than one that has lacked TLC!

warranties

Once your van has been booked into our workshop, our team of skilled and experienced technicians will get to work to rectify your issue if you’re having warranty work done, or put her through her paces with the service checks and maintenance.

Warranties explained

New caravan and motorhome purchases

All the new caravans and motorhomes that we sell - we’re an approved dealership for new Swift caravans and new Bailey caravans and motorhomes - come with a manufacturer-backed three-year warranty, giving you peace of mind that when you take the leap and invest in a new vehicle, you’re covered if anything goes wrong in the early years.

Pretty much every potential ‘fault’ is covered for the first 12 months of the warranty (accidental damage and wear and tear is not covered), with reduced cover once it gets past the 12 month mark. Most large appliances are covered for three years and your vehicle will be protected against water ingress for six years.

Pre owned caravan and motorhome purchases

Every pre-owned caravan and motorhome that we sell comes with our own Winchester Caravans warranty. We stock pre-owned caravans and motorhomes from a range of manufacturers from Swift and Bailey to Adria, Sterling and Lunar on the caravan side and Bessacarr, Dethleffs and Autotrail on the motorhome side.

Caravans between 3 and 5 years old come with a 12-month warranty, those 6-10 years old get 6 months cover and those over 10 years old will have a 3-month warranty. These will provide protection against major issues such as the braking systems and water ingress.

VW campervans

All new VW campervans come with a 3-year warranty from VW. We have all of our VW conversions done by the UK’s largest VW campervan converter - CamperKing, who also offer a 12-month warranty on the conversion work itself.

How does the warranty process work?

If you’ve bought a leisure vehicle from us and something goes wrong on it or you notice a fault, please give us a call on 01962 714844 or get in touch via our contact form. We can then chat through the problem with you; it might be an issue that we can talk through with you over the phone if it’s something that can be corrected with instruction. If it’s an issue that is likely to require a new part, we may ask you to take photos and send them to us so that we can order the part ahead of your appointment so that it’s ready for us to fit. Either way, we’ll get you booked in as quickly as we possibly can to get the issue sorted.

Although a number of external factors such as Brexit, Covid and the Russo-Ukrainian war are making the process of ordering some parts challenging, we’ll always endeavour to get all spare parts in as quickly as we can. If the problem is urgent in that it may be unsafe or ‘holiday stopping’, we’ll get your vehicle in immediately and do all we can to get you back on the road.

Servicing explained

If you’re an existing customer, we’ll get in touch with you when your annual service is due to schedule an appointment on a date and time that suits you. If you’re a new customer looking to utilise our workshop, please contact us and we’ll add you to our system and get you booked in!

Caravan services

Caravans should have a full service annually. This service includes all of the systems - the gas, electrics and water - being given a full check, as well as the braking system/chassis, and a moisture in content check.

Motorhome services

All motorhomes and VW campervans should have an annual ‘habitation check’, whereby all the systems are fully checked over. The electrics and water system will be checked as will the gas system to ensure it is all Gas Safe and that there are no gas leaks or carbon monoxide emissions.

Service pricing

Single axle caravan service: £290

Double axle caravan service: £345

Motorhome habitation check: £210

VW campervan habitation check: £160

All prices are inclusive of VAT but any parts and sundries needed will be at additional cost.

Repairs

In addition to warranty and servicing work, our workshop also welcomes any general repairs you may need. Contact us to discuss the work needed and to get your vehicle booked in.

DIY maintenance

It’s important to look after your caravan or motorhome all year round to keep it in the best possible condition. Check out our blog Looking after your caravan and see our top tips below:

  • Winterise your caravan: If you’re not using your caravan during the winter months, there are a few things you could do to maintain its good cognition during this time such as ensuring the water system on the van is drained before winter and leaving the taps in the open position to avoid the pipes freezing.

  • Air it during the winter: If you’re keeping your vehicle in storage over the winter, try to go to the facility at intervals to give it an airing - condensation can cause mould so it’s best avoided!

  • Keep it clean: Give your vehicle a good clean and wax a couple of times a year - just before winter for an extra layer of protection and in the spring so it’s spic and span for the peak season!

  • Battery care: Remember to keep your leisure battery well charged all the time you’re using it and don’t let it get completely depleted if you can avoid it. If you’re not going to be using your vehicle for a while, be sure to fully charge your battery and remove it from your van. It should be stored in a dry place and ideally not on concrete which can aid deterioration. Recharge your battery every 1-2 months whilst in storage to maintain the condition.

  • Cover up: It’s a good idea to invest in a cover for your caravan as it will protect it from the elements and debris during periods when it's not being used.
