For all the music lovers out there, it’s that time of year again - festival season! May-August is bursting with various festival dates, catering for a wide range of music tastes from pop and rock to 80s and dance.

One of the things that deters a lot of people from going along and enjoying these festivals is the sleeping and bathroom arrangements offered - namely camping and shared toilet and shower blocks. Let’s face it, at festivals, the campsites can be crowded and noisy, and the bathroom blocks are busy and perhaps not the cleanest!

A leisure vehicle would allow you to upgrade your festival experience to a far more luxurious one! If you’re regular festival-goers, investing in a leisure vehicle would be a great move as not only would it make each event far more enjoyable and relaxing, but you’d also be able to make great use of it for any other trips you fancy doing throughout the year.

And - if you fancy attending a festival or two across the Channel in Europe somewhere, your leisure vehicle will provide the ideal accommodation for your trip, with minimal organisation needed. Simply book a ferry crossing and a pitch at the festival site and you’re done!

7 reasons to bring a leisure vehicle into the festival mix…

  1. Self contained
The beauty of a leisure vehicle is that you’ll be completely self-contained with your own kitchen and washroom facilities! No shared toilets or queueing for the shower for you! Having your own kitchen means you can whip up your festival meals quickly and easily, avoiding the cost of having to buy food on-site for every meal, which can be expensive and may not offer the healthiest options.

Electric hook-up may not be available at the festival site, so be sure to invest in a leisure battery before embarking on your trip as it can provide many hours of energy. What’s more, a foldable solar panel would enable you to keep your battery charged over a few days.

  2. Comfy bed
Is there anything better than having a comfy bed to come back to at the end of a busy festival evening? You’ll be able to sink into a proper bed and get a great night’s sleep, ensuring you’re well-rested and raring to go the next day! Plus, if you had an extra drink or two in the evening, the washroom is right there for middle-of-the-night loo trips, which is far preferable to negotiating guy ropes in the dark to get to the toilet block!

  3. Home on wheels
A leisure vehicle is your own little home from home, equipped with your favourite things, all your creature comforts and that all-important hairdryer! You’ll have all the luxuries that you would enjoy if you were staying in a hotel, with the convenience of being on-site at the festival! You’ll be in the thick of it all, soaking up the atmosphere, rather than trekking off-site to a hotel to get the same facilities.

  4. Host your friends
If you’re going solo or in a couple, consider the possibility that you could offer some friends a comfy place to stay too if you go for a vehicle that is 4, 5 or 6 berth! Whilst you may travel as a couple most of the time, going for a larger berth caravan or motorhome, even if you don’t always use the extra beds, will give you extra living space as well! It may also mean that you’ll have a fixed-bed sleeping arrangement, giving you a lounge at the front that can either house friends or act as a permanent lounge for you - it’s win-win!

  5. Near or far
Whether the festival is relatively close to home or further away, a leisure vehicle will give you the full festival experience! If close to home, it will enable you to enjoy a few drinks should you choose, safe in the knowledge that you won’t have to assign ‘designated driver’ status to anyone or secure a taxi at the end of the evening. Festivals that are further away are easily doable in any leisure vehicle as they’re equipped for life on the road!

  6. Comfortable retreat
Although lots of fun, festivals can be exhausting! Knowing that your home on wheels is just a stone’s throw away if you want to head back for a breather, a nap, or even just a loo break, will give you ultimate peace of mind. Plus if you’re attending a festival with your kids, it’s a great way of ensuring they get a bit of time out if they need it.

  7. A great place to shelter
Any festival you attend will be at the mercy of the Great British Weather - so whether you’re looking for a bit of shade in a heatwave (fingers crossed!) or a place to shelter from the rain (more likely!) a leisure vehicle would provide the ideal haven! In warm weather caravans and motorhomes can be well ventilated to ensure airflow and can even be fitted with air conditioning units if desired. If it’s wet, a change of clothes and a nice cuppa in your vehicle is sure to go down well! Consider a porch awning too as they’re a great place to store those wet coats and boots!

What are the options?

Caravan
Caravans are the most cost-effective option, especially if you go for a pre-owned model, though many new models are very affordable too! Available in 2 - 6 berth options and with various different layouts, there’s sure to be a caravan to suit every lifestyle. The big plus of a caravan is once you’re onsite, you can unhitch from your car and drive around freely, knowing your spot is secured.

Motorhome
Motorhomes are great at providing an all-in-one, on the road experience. They come in a range of sizes, with different berth and seat belt options to choose from. As a motor vehicle there is no towing required and most offer a fully self-contained experience.

Campervan
VW campervans are compact, comfortable and cool! They look great and are easy to drive and manoeuvre as they’re smaller than motorhomes and caravans. Whilst most do not offer washroom facilities, a portaloo can often be incorporated and they have a fully equipped kitchenette for mealtimes.

Check out our extensive range of leisure vehicles, including new caravans from top manufacturers Bailey and Swift, pre-owned caravans and motorhomes from a range of manufacturers, and CamperKing VW campervans. Please get in touch to find out more or pop into the showroom for a closer look!
