    breakdown cover

When you’re preparing for an upcoming caravan trip, you’re probably thinking about what clothes to pack, what groceries you need to stock up on and what activities you’ll do when you get there. But spare a thought for the journey; have you got all you need to tow safely? Which route will you take? What will you do if you break down?

Breaking down whilst towing your caravan may not be something you’ve ever thought about, but it is a very real possibility. Any car can experience a fault and although inconvenient - especially when towing - if you’re well prepared for it, you can get it sorted and get on your way in no time.

    Tom Adams

Tom joined Winchester Caravans & Motorhomes in 2016 and has worked his way up from trainee technician during that time. Outside of work, Tom enjoys running, playing football and going to music festivals and on sunny holidays when there isn’t an ongoing pandemic!

The pandemic also scuppered Tom’s plans to run the 2020 London Marathon. He and his brother were signed up to run in memory of their grandad, who tragically died whilst taking part in the marathon in 1990, four years before Tom was born. Family members ran in his memory in 2000 and 2010 and the brothers were due to take the baton this year. They will now complete this in 2022 when the marathon returns to its normal April schedule.

    Utilities

Utilities - not the most exciting thing in the world, but when you’re caravanning, they’re essential! They make all your creature comforts possible - drinking water, a hot shower, light, warmth and most importantly, a hot cup of tea!

If you’re looking to buy your first caravan, about to embark on your first trip or considering changing models, you’ll need to investigate the utilities in your caravan to make sure you’re happy with them and that you know how they work. It is important to do this before you set off on your trip to avoid worries or a stressful situation whilst you’re away.

Camping furniture: get set for comfort

Having the right outdoor furniture makes all the difference for alfresco dining and lounging whilst on your caravanning holiday. Although it’s lovely to sit inside the caravan in comfort and enjoy your meals, it’s also nice to have the option to dine outside if the weather’s glorious.

Go into any outdoors or camping store looking for camping furniture and you may wonder where to start as there’s so much choice. What do you need? What’s comfortable? What’s good value for money? Which manufacturer is best? These are all questions that may run through your mind as you look around.

Caravan covers: get ready for winter - Winchester Caravans

Winter is on its way and what better way to protect your caravan from the elements than to get a cover for it? There are a few things to consider so take a look at all the options...

Caravan covers took off in the mid-1990s with the introduction of affordable, lightweight fabrics that are water-resistant and breathable. ‘Full’ covers that envelop the entire body of the caravan start from around £120 (hitch and top covers are less) so for relatively little investment you can keep your caravan protected during the winter and any other times you’re not using it.
