Winchester Caravans and Motorhomes is now an official dealership for McLouis motorhomes with the full range of models expected in the showroom in the spring.
There are five models in the range and we’re expecting two of each to be delivered to the showroom, with further models able to be ordered in.

Bailey of Bristol: leading the way in energy-saving initiatives…
Bailey of Bristol have installed 800 solar panels on their manufacturing plant in Clevedon, Somerset, taking another step towards their goal of becoming a carbon-neutral business.
The 800 panels are capable of generating 333 kilowatts of energy, which is equivalent to approximately two thirds of the annual power requirement of the facility. Bailey has invested £400k in the installation, with costs expected to be recouped over the next four years.

Book your sites early for 2022!
The past two years have seen higher numbers of people opting for caravan and motorhome holidays in the UK than ever before. This is largely due to the pandemic hampering people’s plans to travel abroad, making staycations in the UK a more viable option.
2022 is likely to bring much of the same behaviour as the COVID numbers show no sign of falling and the number of people wanting to stay close to home is expected to remain high. With this in mind, if you’re planning a few caravanning trips yourself for the coming year, it’s a good idea to start planning ahead and get your sites booked! Delaying may mean your favourite sites are full or that you are unable to get the dates you were after.

Get ready for the 2022 season...
In the past, caravanners and motorhomers may have waited until they’d attended a show, such as the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the NEC, before making a decision on their first or next purchase. However, with no shows taking place in 2021 (both the February and October NEC shows were cancelled due to COVID) this may have thrown a spanner in the works.
Attending a national show like the ones held twice a year at the NEC are a great way of gaining an overview of what’s available in the industry, what dealerships are local to you and which vehicles may best suit your needs. However this year is a little different as demand is so high, so if you were thinking of using the February 2022 NEC show to aid your decision-making, you should reconsider.

Explore Bailey’s new 2022 motorhome ranges!
Bailey’s 2022 motorhome ranges are out now and available to order! This season’s offering comprises the Adamo and the Autograph and with 11 models between them, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
The Adamo range has Ford Transit cabs supplied with a 2.0 litre 160bhp engine with automatic gearbox. The van itself is a Ford Transit skeletal chassis with an Alu-Tech bodyshell habitation area. The Autograph range has Peugeot fully compliant Euro 6 Boxer cabs supplied with a 2.2 Blue Hdi 165bhp engine with 6-speed manual gearbox and an Alu-Tech bodyshell habitation area.

Swift have relaunched the legendary Conqueror for 2022 - a range that Swift first launched in 1990 with production continuing for 28 years. It has enjoyed a four-year rest and is now back with a bang! The new 2022 Bailey Unicorn range launched in July and now as the new season starts to take off, it's attracting a lot of interest! Bailey of Bristol hosted a rooftop reception to celebrate the new range and even craned a Unicorn Vigo to the top of One New Change to act as a stunning centrepiece for the event!
Winchester Caravans and Motorhomes Managing Director James Southwood and Sales Manager James Mainwaring attended the event, which took place on Wednesday 29 September. The event provided guests with the opportunity to learn more about the Unicorn range and take a look inside the four-berth Vigo model, all whilst enjoying a great view of St Paul’s Cathedral by night.

The rules for towing a trailer or caravan with a car are changing this autumn...
The rules for towing a trailer or caravan with a car are changing this autumn. The changes will mean that anyone who passed their driving test after 1 January 1997 will be permitted to tow trailers (or caravans) up to 3,500kg MAM (maximum authorised mass) without having to take a separate test.
Under previous rules, those who passed their standard driving test between 1 January 1997 and 18 January 2013 were allowed to drive a car or van up to 3,500kg MAM towing a trailer of up to 750kg MAM (up to 4,250kg in total) or tow a trailer over 750kg MAM, as long as it is no more than the unladen weight of the towing vehicle (up to 3,500kg in total).

Combatting supply chain delays with great customer service
As the pandemic continues to impact the global supply chain, we too are feeling the effects of this on-going issue. We’re doing all we can to offset any delays that are being caused by the continuing difficulties in getting hold of parts and are keeping our customers in the loop to ensure they are informed every step of the way.
Many of our suppliers are finding it extremely difficult to get hold of the raw materials and essential components that are needed to make spare parts, which does unfortunately mean that some delays are unavoidable.

Say hello to the new 2021 ranges from Bailey and Swift!
Production is now in full swing on the new 2021 Bailey and Swift ranges, welcome news to many caravanners who have been patiently awaiting these. We’re already taking orders so get in touch soon to ensure you don’t miss out!
When the coronavirus pandemic swept our nation in the spring, the lockdown period that followed meant caravan production had to stop. The factories closed for over four months, with the remainder of the planned 2020 builds having to be abandoned. This led to a shortage of caravans over the summer period when showrooms reopened, and these shortages may continue into 2021 as social distancing measures and reduced staff numbers will leave manufacturers unable to produce as many vehicles as usual.

The Practical Caravan Owner Satisfaction Survey 2021 is now open so we’re asking all customers who have purchased a new or pre-owned caravan from us since 1 January 2017 to complete the survey so we can use the feedback to ensure the best possible customer service going forward.
The survey closes on Saturday 31 October 2020. The results from the survey will inform the Practical Caravan Owner Satisfaction Awards 2021, where the highest achieving manufacturers and dealerships will be recognised for their high levels of customer satisfaction.

The Practical Caravan Owner Satisfaction Survey 2020 is now open and Winchester Caravans are asking all customers who have purchased a new or pre-owned caravan from them since 1 January 2016 to complete the survey so they can use the feedback to ensure the best possible customer service in the future.
